Press 626 Wine Bar: A Norfolk Date-Night Preview |
Wine, shareable plates, and a Victorian-house setting in Ghent |

For a Norfolk date night built around wine and conversation, Press 626 Wine Bar offers an appealing starting point in Ghent.
The restaurant occupies a 1906 Victorian home, giving couples a setting with more architectural character than a conventional dining room.
Its combination of wine, small plates, and comfort-food dishes makes it worth considering for an evening that can begin with something to share.
What to consider ordering
The posted menu offers several routes, whether you want a snack with drinks or a full dinner.
A cheese board, baked goat cheese, and duck confit spring rolls provide options for building a shared meal.
For something more substantial, choices include steak frites, pan-seared salmon, and brown butter miso gnocchi.
The duck confit grilled cheese, with fig jam and caramelized onions, is another menu option for diners who prefer a sandwich to a larger entrée.
These are menu highlights to consider, rather than dishes we have personally tasted.
Why it fits a date-night shortlist
Wine takes a central role, while cocktails, beer, and nonalcoholic selections give the table alternatives.
Couples could start with one shared plate, then decide whether to order sandwiches, larger dishes, or dessert.
That flexibility is the strongest reason to put it on a date-night shortlist: the menu allows different appetites without requiring the same type of meal.

The menu sounds good, but I wish the 3.5% credit-card fee were included in the listed prices. I’d still consider going for the steak frites, just nice to know about the extra charge ahead of time.
A wine bar in a 1906 Victorian home sounds like a nice change from our usual dinner spot. I like that we could split the duck confit spring rolls and decide on a bigger meal after that.
