Virginia Beach’s boardwalk becomes an outdoor gallery this weekend as the Virginia MOCA Boardwalk Art Show returns October 9–11, 2026.

Celebrating its 70th anniversary, the free event brings more than 160 artists to the Oceanfront for three days of fine art, contemporary craft, and opportunities to meet the people behind the work.

For Hampton Roads residents, it offers an easy reason to spend an autumn day by the ocean—whether you are shopping for something special or simply enjoying the displays.

When and where to go

The show runs along the Virginia Beach boardwalk from 23rd to 33rd streets, according to the organizer’s current event page.

Friday’s hours are 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Saturday runs 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; and Sunday runs 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Admission to the art show is free, but plan separately for parking, food, artwork purchases, and any paid extras.

Use the Oceanfront location when planning your trip rather than the museum’s Wesleyan Drive address.

More than browsing the booths

Families can also visit the Virginia MOCA Art Park at 31st Street Park, where announced activities include artist demonstrations, performances, lawn games, bubbles, face painting, and hands-on art making.

Art Park hours differ from the main show: Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

The VMFA on the Road art mobile will be at 26th Street during show hours, with free admission to its traveling exhibition.

For visitors who want to extend their outing, the Liquid Art Beer Garden at 24th Street Park combines craft beer, food trucks, live mural painting, and music.

Its hours extend beyond the art booths on some days, so check the separate schedule and ticket details before making plans.

Plan a relaxed Oceanfront visit

Wear comfortable shoes, give yourself time to browse, and check the forecast before heading out.

The VB Wave Route 30 trolley is scheduled to operate along Atlantic Avenue for the festival weekend, providing another way to move around the Oceanfront.

Check current transit information and parking options before leaving, especially if you are traveling from the Peninsula.

With its milestone anniversary and a broad mix of artists, the show offers a chance to discover new work while enjoying one of the region’s most familiar waterfront settings.
