Live Music in Hampton Roads: September 29–October 5, 2026
A week of funk, blues, opera, rock tributes and orchestral performances

From funk and blues to opera and orchestral music, Hampton Roads has plenty to hear this week.

Here are seven performances to put on your calendar.

Tuesday, September 29: Fantasy at Elevation 27.

Start the week in Virginia Beach with Fantasy: A Celebration of Earth, Wind & Fire.

The tribute show begins at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.

Elevation 27 lists advance general admission at $15 and day-of-show admission at $20.

If you want a night built around familiar funk and soul, this is your pick.

Wednesday, September 30: Two ways to spend the evening.

Virginia Opera’s Wednesday Wind Down begins at 5:30 p.m. on the lawn of Norfolk’s Harrison Opera House.

Bring a chair or blanket and hear the company’s artists ahead of its new season.

The outdoor gathering is free.

Later that night, the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band takes the stage at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach at 8 p.m.

The guitarist’s Ledbetter Heights 30th Anniversary Tour revisits his debut album and draws on music from across his career.

It’s a strong choice for blues-rock fans willing to make a midweek night out of it.

Friday, October 2: Lettuce at Elevation 27.

Funk band Lettuce brings its Lettuce Cook Tour to Elevation 27 for an 8 p.m. show.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and advance general admission is listed at $43.

The band also says $1 from each ticket sold will support a music scholarship through the nonprofit Music Is A Language.

Saturday, October 3: A free concert or a rock tribute.

The U.S. Marine Band performs at the Sandler Center at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free, but tickets are required; the venue says tickets are valid until 7:15 p.m., when open seating begins.

For a different Saturday sound, Petty Rewind: A Tom Petty Tribute Band plays Elevation 27 at 8 p.m.

Advance general admission is listed at $20.

Sunday, October 4: Symphonicity at the Sandler Center.

Close the weekend with Symphonicity’s “Chapter I — Ceremony & Conviction” at 3 p.m.

The program includes works by Shostakovich, Glière, Addinsell and Tchaikovsky, with Chaerin Kim featured on harp and piano.

Check each venue’s event page before heading out for current ticket availability and any schedule changes.
